Electric Bastionland: Prison of the Worm Queen Play Report, Part 1

Been running Prison of the Worm Queen, which will expand into a full campaign after we're done (the players have LOVED it). Here's part 1 of my play report (part two when they, y'know, finish it).

  • I set the scene of Dwamsgarden and showed them the map and instantly Foggy (Critter Catcher) wanted to check out the Library of Moles, who was disappointed when there were actual moles (albeit Mock) reading braille with their noses. 
  • Passed by the School of Rocks, took a peek inside, and got a rock spitball shot at them from one of the class' students.
  • Arrived at Club DIRT, got their briefing from the Wormgirls. Towards the end, the blind man pipes up, saying "Don't go alone! Take one of these!" and gave them the choice of the three items. Before he was done explaining what they do, Foggy touched the Grub-Nectar. The Wormgirls then told him, much to his dismay, that they'd have to cut off his finger.
  • Right before the Wormgirls were just about to hack away with a rusty saw, Seb (Front of House Face) had the idea to cut off the Grub-Nectar instead of actually cut off Foggy's finger. Crisis averted. Almost got him. The Wormgirls were disappointed they didn't get to cut off a finger.

My amazing rendition of the Veg-Head
  • After they were off with their new pal Veg-Head (which they have yet to use), they entered Hog Hall, and met the Master of Rolls. After a clever lie from Foggy telling him they were "critter catchers" and needed to go in the basement, they entered the Wet Caves.
  • They managed to avoid fighting the white alligator, but Foggy touched the ash, thus summoning the Ash Wraith. The Ash Wraith whirled around, and, right after they had the idea to dump it in water, dealt critical damage to Twitch (Tunnel Stray). A soul taken later, the Ash Wraith returned to the box, along with a physical manifestation of Twitch's soul, that of a small pearl. The players decided that they will fight the Ash Wraith later, leaving Twitch soulless for now.
  • I had to have a bit of a discussion with Twitch's player about what it meant for them to be soulless, as they were playing Twitch as basically mute and nonexistent. So, I talked about how the soulless-ness is mostly a loss of emotion and personality, and that they're still free to talk and do things.
  • They explored the rest of the Wet Caves, and entered the Blue Tunnels without touching the explosive fungus or finding the slime.
  • Upon entering the Blue Tunnels, I rolled a sign of a random encounter. As they entered, they heard two Snail Drones muttering to each other in the hallway beyond the first room. Flint (Wall-Born) decided to yell at them, thus getting their attention. One of the Snail Drones had a trash bag full of sea shells, and as they talked, he was gluing them to the nearby wall. The Snail Drones referred to each other as "Brothers", and openly talked to each other about how they could bring him to 'Lord ABYSS'.
  • Flint did not like that, and initiated the attack. A bloody fight later where both Twitch and Flint went down, they defeated the Snail Drones while Foggy pleaded for them to stop and to save the snails. However, as Seb got two lucky swings with her baseball bat, Foggy's dream of peace and harmony was not reached.
  • Flint and Foggy, while resting in the Wet Caves, had an argument over the situation and what happened. Random encounter was rolled, and, the Master of Rolls was drawing closer. They heard a bang from his gun as he attacked the alligator underwater, and drew near.
  • Twitch threw her axe at the alligator, landing right in its head. The Master of Rolls told them he knew that they lied to him, but that he would let them do whatever they needed, and even pay them, if they let him have the Worm Queen.
  • The Master of Rolls threatened them, pointing his gun. Twitch grabbed it and basically told him to back off. Well, because Twitch didn't have a Charisma stat anymore, the Master of Rolls fired. As well as his bodyguard. Whoops, just enough to kill.
  • The rest of the party swiftly took out them both in a single round. They heard the trapdoor above close, but they haven't pursued yet.
  • They went back down, and started up BUNNY, who proceeded to do the entire Macarena as a welcome and thank you.

Making Rules Worlds: Neandertal

Here's my response to Nakade's Making Rules Worlds challenge. I might do more, but for now, here's some mechanics for a Neanderthal setting. Namely, Highland Paranormal Society's Neandertal . You big man. But, what if... BIGGER MAN?? Here how you become BIGGEST MAN to defeat the BIGGER MAN after BESTEST WIFE. The key is to eat. Not the good foods, the bad foods we rid of. The only way to become biggest man is to test your worth and eat bad foods. Whenever you eat an organ or small body part from an animal's body, roll STR . If you succeed, gain a bonus based on the organ or body part. If you fail, you lose 1 MAX  Vim. If you reach 0 Max Vim from this, the animals you've eaten awaken their souls and render you a mad, raving killer with no sense of humanity. Examples: Food Sack (Stomach): You gain the fortitude of the animal you've eaten. Your STR is +1 for each stomach for future rolls related to eating. The "Legend" Boss Fight

Hello! This blog post is based on some advice I gave someone on the 24XX-Cord  pertaining to boss fights. When I was done writing my 2000 characters, I thought, "Hm, maybe I should just make a blog post about this." So, that's what I've done. Enjoy! HP - Trending Downwards Ever since I read the 16 HP Dragon , I was enthralled by the elegance of a monster with as little statistics as possible. However, we can go lower. For example, when I ran Prison of the Worm Queen  by Chris McDowall (which I am still running an extension of, if you read my Part One play report ), the big boss of the module has around HALF of the 16 HP Dragon, having 8 HP and Armor 2 (basically -2 to damage, if you haven't read Into the Odd or Electric Bastionland , which, um, what're you doing here if so?).
